Medicare Supplement Plans (Medigap)

Discover how a Medicare Supplement plan can protect you from unpredictable out-of-pocket healthcare costs and give you the freedom to choose your own doctors.

What is a Medicare Supplement?

Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) covers many healthcare services and supplies, but it doesn't cover everything. A Medicare Supplement Insurance policy, sold by private companies, helps pay some of the healthcare costs that Original Medicare doesn't cover, like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.

These plans are designed to fill the "gaps" in your primary coverage, which is why they are frequently referred to as Medigap plans.

Who is it designed for?

  • Individuals 65 and older who are enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B.
  • People who travel frequently domestically and want coverage anywhere in the U.S.
  • Those seeking highly predictable healthcare costs without surprise medical bills.

Common Questions

Do I need to stay in a specific network?

No. One of the biggest advantages of a Medicare Supplement plan is that there are no network restrictions. You can visit any doctor, specialist, or hospital in the United States that accepts Original Medicare.

When is the best time to buy a Medigap policy?

The best time is during your Medigap Open Enrollment Period. This 6-month period begins on the first day of the month in which you're 65 or older and enrolled in Medicare Part B. During this time, you have guaranteed issue rights.

Can a Medigap policy cover my spouse?

No. Medigap policies only cover one person. If you and your spouse both want Medigap coverage, you will each have to buy separate policies.
